Hideous Men
Hideous Men
Denver experimental duo, formed September 2009 by Ryan McRyhew and Kristi Schaefer. Named after David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. Active in the Rhinoceropolis/Denver DIY scene.
Connection to Colin
Colin remixed Hideous Men on REMIX09 (December 30, 2009) — track 4, titled "TALONS [HIDEOUS MEN]" — just three months after the band formed. This is among the earliest documented collaborative connections in Colin's archive.
Hideous Men's farewell show (before McRyhew and Schaefer moved to Chicago) was held at Rhinoceropolis in June 2010, placing both Colin's orbit and Ryan McRyhew's in the same Rhinoceropolis context from the very beginning.
Ryan McRyhew later performed as Entrancer and Thug Entrancer, and co-released with Colin on the Noumenal Loom compilation Neotropical (posthumous, 2020).
