Documentary: Buildings Are Heavy

Kim Shively directed the feature documentary Buildings Are Heavy, an intimate portrait of Denver artist-run DIY spaces and gentrification. The film's central subjects are three longstanding artist-run spaces and a hundred-year-old bank building in north Denver. The film focuses on how residents react to their changing environment and looming building closures, exploring community and the role art plays in gentrification.

This film is mission-critical for the CRFW archive. Given Shively's close relationship with Colin and her role building Aquakota, the film almost certainly touches on the Rhinoceropolis/Glob world Colin inhabited. Action item (Dyl-gated): Watch this film in full and extract: any on-camera Colin footage or references, which three DIY spaces are depicted, any archival material not yet in the vault.
